Lynchburg, VA – With gas prices as high as they have been, more people are driving mopeds these days. There have been no recent accidents in Lynchburg, but there have been some close calls.

Moped drivers say it is terrifying when much larger vehicles get way too close.

Frank Turpin bought his moped about two months ago.

I got it because its economical. It holds about one gallon of gas it only costs $3, you get 100 miles to the gallon, Turpin said.

He likes feeling the fresh wind in his face.

Its also fun. It gives you a chance to enjoy the air, Turpin said.
